Our high school internship program (HIP) is designed for students who are interested in expanding their knowledge about art making and administration. Interns will spend the summer working with our teaching artist to make their own art projects for exhibition and going on field trips to various art institutions.

Out with the old, in with the new!

With our 2010 H.I.P. cycle quickly approaching, we thought it would be fun to take a look back at our 2009 interns....

H.I.P. interns have fun taking photos on a field trip to P.S.1.

Interns got the chance to explore and help out at Wade and Stephen's studio.

Interns were hard at work for their projects displayed at the 13th annual D.U.M.B.O. Art Under the Bridge Festival.

Two interns prepare to lead a tour of the Art Under the Bridge Festival.

The 2009 HIP crew!

Here's what some of our 2009 interns had to say about their experience:

“This internship was a great opportunity for high school students and teens to
showcase their artwork. The relationships and connections I’ve formed
at DAC will stay with me forever”

“HIP allows aspiring artists to be surrounded with the art world, and
see what it’s really like”

“This internship was a great way to meet new people, interns, and
artists participating in the festival. And to help me learn how to
prepare myself for proposals and art projects in the future”

"I learned not just how to create traditional art, but also conceptual art
and installations. It was great to learn what it felt like to make myself
known as an artist.”

“I would definitely recommend this program to others because it was a
great experience and opportunity for young artists”

Don't miss out on this great opportunity for the 2010 season!
